-Before and After your Spray Tan Do’s and Dont's 


If this is your first spray tan or have some questions, below are some guidelines to follow for the best results 

Do's

  • DO shower prior to your spray tan appointment to remove sweat, oil and deodorant from the skin. 


  • DO any waxing at least 48 hours prior to your tan appointment, and shaving should be completed with a razor that lacks a moisture strip. 


  • DO exfoliate will an exfoliating mitt 48 hours prior to your spray tan appointment and stay away from a body scrub that is oil-based which will leave a residue on the skin. 


  • DO consider having your spray tan a day after your facials, massages, manicures & pedicures and any other spa treatments. 


  • DO wear dark, loose-fitting clothing with open-toed sandals for after your spray tan. 


  • DO stay hydrated! The more hydrated your skin is, the longer your tan will last. 


  • DO consider taking off jewelry prior to your spray tan. Ring area and even the thinnest piece of jewelry will show a lighter color once your spray tan has developed. 


  • DO repeat your shower if you see streaks of bronzer left on your skin. Shower temperature should be lukewarm. 


  • DO use a tan extender to extend the life of your tan. 


  • DO use a hydrating moisturizer for the face and body. Moisturize 24 hours after your spray tan is recommended.
     
  • DO EXPECT YOUR SPRAY TAN TO LOOK BRONZE & BEAUTIFUL AND LAST FOR 7-10 WITH PROPER CARE. ENJOY! 


Dont's

  • DON’T shower RIGHT before your spray tan. Your pores are enlarged after a warm shower, so the tanning solution can sit in your pores and may create dark looking spots. 


  • DON’T apply any oils/moisturizer/ deodorant/ perfume or makeup prior to your spray tan appointment. 


  • DON’T apply facial masks, pore strips or any type of skin tape 48 prior to your spray tan appointment. 


  • DON’T exercise or sweat excessively after your spray tan. 


  • DON’T allow pets to lick or scratch your skin after your spray tan. 


  • DON’T spray tan if you have a sunburn or peeling skin. 


  • DON’T rinse/wash your hands will your spray tan is developing. This will wash off the bronzer and may leave your hands looking streaky. 


  • DON’T use soap in the shower for your initial rinse off of your spray tan. Certain soaps such as Dove, Bath and Body Works and drugstore brands may strip and decrease the life span of your spray tan. 



  • DON’T swim in pools/ocean/take long hot showers/saunas/and excessive sweating due to exercise. These activities may decrease the life span of your tan.


Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many days does it take for a Spray Tan to look good?

    Ideally, you should come at least two or three days prior to your event that is scheduled. This is due to the fact that sunless tanning is not an instant process. Generally, the tan that is achieved during the sunless tanning session will darken over the next several days, usually reaching its peak on the third day. 

  • Can I shower right before getting a Spray Tan?

    Don't Shower Right Before Your Session- 

    Showering the same day is fine - just be sure to do it at least four hours before your appointment.  Your pores are enlarged after a warm shower or bath, so the tanning solution can sit in your pores and creates dark-looking spots. 

  • Will leggings ruin my Spray Tan?

    Tight clothes, shoes, and even jewelry can cause the spray tan formula to rub off. It's important to make sure your skin is prepped so your spray tan will last longer and look amazing. 

  • What products should I use after my Spray Tan to keep it moisturized and looking fabulous?
